The countdown is on..
Table Family,
My friend Jason popped by the cafe the other day for a club sandwich. Before COVID, he was a regular volunteer--a joy to have helping run food and greet folks. And guess what, friends? I got to tell him the good news: the countdown to having volunteers again is on.
“Maggie,” Jason said, beaming from ear to ear, “I cannot wait to be back in the café. It’s wild to believe I haven’t seen the inside in a year and a half. There are so many of us that talk about how much we miss volunteering. It is truly the only time you’ll hear me say I miss doing dishes….”
I could not be more excited to have Jason--and you!--back in the cafe, helping us do our thing. In two weeks, we’ll be eating together, catching up (so much catching up!) and doing dishes again. It can’t come fast enough!
Our staff is vaccinated, our new menu is finalized (hello, waffles and grits), and we are bursting at the seams to have coffee with you. As I mentioned last month, we’re playing the long game with the re-opening process: it’s slower than some restaurants, because we want to make sure the process is equitable and in line with our mission.
Here’s a run-down of good stuff to come:
June 2nd- Outside seating! Thanks Downtown Raleigh Alliance and the City of Raleigh.
June 8th- Tuesdays are back, baby! Our limited pandemic schedule was Wednesday-Sunday.
June 15th- Indoor tables! Because we all know it’ll be a zillion degrees by then.
We’ve made it through a pandemic because you are in our corner, and we are grateful--so grateful--for your patience and generosity! Thank you, thank you, thank you.
See you at a curbside table in just a few short weeks!
Real hugs,
Maggie
