Happy Wednesday!

"As you navigate through the rest of your life, be open to collaboration. Other people and other people's ideas are often better than your own. Find a group of people who challenge and inspire you, spend a lot of time with them, and it will change your life." --Amy Poehler

Someone asked our Executive Director and Founder yesterday, "What has kept you going for 3 years?"  She easily and quickly answered, "My team, our donors, and our faithful followers."

As many of you know, Table Raleigh is finally about to open its doors after many years of waiting patiently for a location, hosting events. and building community in this awesome town we live in. We go back to the question our Director was asked. How did we really do this?

  • The Board of Directors are some of the most kind, caring, and passionate people you will ever meet. Their patience and honesty are invaluable to keeping our mission going. They have not given up and have spent hours upon hours sitting in board meetings, committee meetings, and events.
  • Our Community Advisory Board ROCKS. They have spent hours volunteering, serving meals, and getting to know our community. They also have contributed hundreds of good ideas and pieces of advice to our Board of Directors. Plus, they just have a ton of fun!
  • All of the amazing people that have provided pro-bono services. We could not do this without you. Thank you especially to David Prestrud, owner of Plan A Architecture, who has been with us since day 1. A Place at the Table should be named after him for how much he has offered to our team. The many drawings, ideas, and meetings he has contributed to our Board of Directors are unspeakable. If you ever need a restaurant architect, he is your guy!
  • ALL OF YOU. I don't think I can say this enough. YOU are the reason Table Raleigh is opening. Thank you for sticking with us for years, believing in our mission, and loving us! Thank you for the many ideas, sweet cards, and for simply showing up. We could not do this without you, nor would we want to.

As we get closer and closer to opening our doors, we reflect on Amy Poehler's words (yes, we do love Amy!) more than ever. We cannot wait to finally have a permanent place at the table for you and for everyone.

Stay tuned because we are coming soon!

Peace,

Table Raleigh team
