Table Community Pulse Check

Table family,

I wanted to jump on here and do a pulse check. How are you? How are your spirits? I wish I could sit down with each of you and do a real-life check-in over coffee.

It has not been an easy few months of COVID-19 for anyone. I think about each one of you often and can’t wait to give you the biggest hug in my 29 years of being. Thank you for cheering us on and supporting us during these weeks with your thoughts and donations. Keep it up! It means more than you know.

The Table team is resilient and undeniably passionate. Spirits have yet to be cracked. Wednesday through Sunday, the team shows up, excited to be together and ready to serve the 40-50 or so in line waiting for a warm biscuit. At 7:58, we play our pump up song and get in our positions. Usha takes the register outside, Alli or Emily answer phones, and Josh runs miles of food out the door. The kitchen crew builds biscuit sandwiches, and Evan crafts the perfect coffees. Me? Well, I talk...per usual.

7 weeks, and here’s the run-down:

10, 233 total meals served.

9, 000 free meals to our friends who can’t afford it

3,858 biscuits

3, 769 clubs.

Holy moly.

But here’s the most important number: we’ve welcomed around 400 new faces with an air hug through our masks and gloves. Our community is growing, and that’s a testament to what you have built at Table.

“Someone sent me your way and said I could get something to eat. I have three girls and we are kinda hungry. We are staying in a hotel closeby. Can we come by?”

“We just moved here from Florida. We lost our jobs in COVID and thought we could try another city. Someone immediately sent us here for a good meal. Can we volunteer? We want to give back too.”

“Ya’ll have the best food. I didn’t think I liked tomatoes until I tried Chef Andrew’s Grits Bowl. I am just thankful for you. We don’t know what we would do without you during this.

This.

Many of you ask us how we keep going, because you see how hard our team is working. Thank you for thinking of us. But...this is how we do it. We do it for each one of these incredible people above. We are honored, truly fortunate, to be here for the hundreds of people we see each day.

Please know that you are doing this work with us. Just because you are not inside with us volunteering or dining, doesn’t mean that you are not a part of this powerful community that is happening each day. Please know that you are the reason this powerful community exists and continues to grow.

We miss you.

We love you.

Be well and take care of you.

Love,

Maggie
