Let's keep moving forward

Table family,

I know I haven’t reached out and I acknowledge the words that are going unsaid. I’m not sure how to begin this email other than by saying that I don’t have words for our world right now. This month has unreal for all of us. My dad, a beloved family member, was taken by COVID19. George Floyd, a beloved fellow human, was taken by police violence. The world is sad and angry. You are sad and angry. I am sad and angry. I’m sitting with it, processing it, letting it seep into my bones. Table can and will do better. When I have words, I will share them. I promise.

For now, there are meals to serve, and new community members to meet, and wonderful moments of Table community curbside-style, masks and all. Let’s keep moving forward. And to do that--well, we have to look backward. Remember that expansion project you made happen in what feels like another lifetime? Well...

It’s time to wrap it up! We will be closing Monday, June 15th to finally finish construction. Our hardworking, dedicated staff will take a week off, the wall will officially come down between the old and new spaces, the new kitchen will be connected, and 300 W. Hargett St., Suite 50 will look excitingly different.

On July 8th, we’ll reopen for curbside walkup and takeout only, but with an expanded menu (psssst eggs, pulled chicken, and drum roll...see below for our most-requested addition). We wish we could say that we would be open for seating and volunteer opportunities. But we know being patient and watching what the next few months brings is the best way to honor the safety of our community.

We are only able to do this because each one of you. Thank you for all you have done to get us through this time, and for what I know you will continue to do as we navigate what's next. I can't WAIT to serve you our GRITS BOWL in a few short weeks, and I look forward to the day when our cafe will be full of our whole community again.

With hugs,

Maggie Kane
